Q. What is the restrictions on weapons used in the state of Illinois and how do they apply to your preserve?

A. There are no firearm restrictions that apply when hunting with us at Samson’s Ridge, LLC one may use what ever type of weapon you want when hunting with us at Samson’s Ridge, LLC. Whether you choose a pistol, shotgun, rifle, bow, crossbow it’s your choice. Dress code for hunter orange along with our hunting season is even different as well.

Q. How is this possible for the state of Illinois?

A. Again we are a Private Owned hunting preserve, which is high fenced, and established in 1997, with rolling hills of thick ground cover, towering oak, maple, pine, and dogwood trees also consisting of cedar, blackberry, and wild rose thickets. Our hunting bi-laws differ from the normal rules and regulations set by the state of IL for what is known as fair chase hunting. Samson’s Ridge, LLC is Regulated and Governed by the Agriculture Laws of this state.

Q. What happens if the opportunity Does Not present it’s self?

A.You may come back at an agreeable date or all except $2,000.00 of your hunt cost will be refunded to you.

Q. Are there any Trophy Fees or any other fees in addition to your price quote?

A. No. However, there are four things that are not included in the hunt cost and they are; your taxidermy work, local processing fee, any shipping fees, and a suggested tip to your guide.

Q. When does hunting season begin and end?

A.Velvet hunts begin around the second or third week of August. The hard antler harvest will begin about September 15th or 20th. Our hunting season ends around January 15th.

Q. What is the cost for a non hunting guest?

A. There is a fee of $150.00 per night for each Non-Hunting Guest.

Q. Can I bring my video camera and film my hunt?

A. We currently offer this service which is included in your hunt fees. We do not allow outside video cameras to film extra footage for your own personal use. Too many times have ones used footage from here to profit from. Film footage taken from Samson’s Ridge, LLC is considered to be property of Samson’s Ridge, LLC and is protected by copy rights and trademark laws.

Q. When will I receive my footage of my hunt?

A. You will be given copies of still photos of your kill before leaving. You can expect your DVD around the last part of August (if not before). Your DVD will have footage of deer that we have been captured on film through the season along with your current hunt at Samson’s Ridge, LLC. We will also add music, and graphics to your DVD.

Q. Is a hunter’s safety card required for any one born after 1975?

A. Yes

Q. Can I upgrade once I get there and can I harvest more than one deer?

A. You can upgrade and harvest more than one deer for an additional cost.

Q. Is there a guarantee opportunity for bow hunters?

A. No, due to the shorter yardage need for one using a bow verses firearms.

Q. Can I hunt with my bow the first few days and then switch over to a firearm should I not have any success with my bow?

A. Yes, not a problem.
